IDF: Intel shows 4 GHz Pentium 4

According to the tradition of Intel to show new records for the clock frequencies of processors at the IDF in San Francisco, a Pentium 4 with 4.0 GHz was demonstrated. However, it is only 500 MHz faster than the processor from last year.

At that time, a Pentium 4 with 3.5 GHz was shown and for the next year, i.e. this year, one with 5 GHz clocked processor speculates. This time, too, like last year, it was not possible to find out whether the processor was cooled with air or a liquid. Applications in action at 4.0 GHz were unfortunately not shown, only a small tool that displays the frequency could be admired on the Windows XP desktop. Intel is unstoppably advancing towards the 10 GHz design. Such a processor should be available in 2005 and operate with a voltage of less than one volt.
