ICQ Lite: Fewer features but no advertising

ICQ has introduced an alpha version of a new ICQ program, affectionately and appropriately named ICQ Lite. In this version, the functionality is limited to sending messages, files and SMS. Other features that are often not required. were left out.

These features include extensions such as telephone, pager and chat functions as well as the email functionality. In the end, we got back to the concept of an instant messenger, ICQ Lite doesn't do much more than that. In addition, there is a pleasant side effect of the cleanup: The user no longer has to look at advertising banners, these have been completely removed - at least for now. It is not yet known whether this is only the case in the alpha version or will also be the case in the finished version. The current alpha version, which has the build number 1019, is currently available for Windows users to download. However, ICQ warns that this version is still unstable and contains errors that could cause the program to crash. In addition, the number of users who use ICQ Lite is limited. Exact numerical values in this regard were not given.
