IBM gives up four German locations
As it became known, IBM will close four German branches of the data processing service Oberhausen (DVO). This affects 316 employees from the branches in Aachen, Magdeburg, Wuppertal and Oberhausen.
As an IBM spokesman announced, IBM has not been spared the global IT crisis either. This is due, among other things, to the loss of major customers. The employees of the four locations are to be offered termination agreements. However, the trade union responsible for services, ver.di, has already announced resistance to this proposal. As Rolf Schmidt, ver.di group manager of the company, already announced, they want to sit down with those affected and defend themselves together. Furthermore, the union suggests waiting for the social plans before deciding on a termination agreement.
