'Human' robot from Honda
According to a report in the Japanese newspaper 'Nihon Keizai Shimbun', a 'human' robot from Honda will come onto the market as early as next year. Honda plans to present the first commercial version of the P3 prototype next month.
Like its human role models, the P3 should be able to go up and down stairs and still be able to transport objects. If Honda has its way, the P3 should be used primarily in the care of the elderly, in the household, in rescue and other operations that are very dangerous for people. Until then, the prototype has to 'slim down' about half of its 130 kilograms live weight and only 1.60 meters in size and its endurance has to be increased further from just 30 minutes. The price for the robot should be around 204,000 DM.
