HP announces new burner
Hewlett-Packard today announced a new CD writer for the SOHO and home with the CD-Writer 'cd12ri'. The highlight of the burner is the 'Buffer Underrun Prevention Technology', which, similar to the Burn Proof process, is able to reliably compensate for buffer underruns and thus save blank media.
The drive reads normal CDs with 32x, writes CD-Rs with 12x and CD-RWs with a whopping 10x. The burner supports the EIDE bus and has a 2 MB cache. Together with a decent software package (so far not mentioned burning program, HP CD Creation Software, MusicMatch Jukebox) the burner will be available in stores from June 2001 with a recommended retail price of 399DM.
