Hercules brings 3D Prophet FDX 8500 LE
After ATi announced new models of the Radeon-8500 and Radeon-8500-LE with 128 MB memory each for the US market, the ATi partner responsible in Europe, Guillemot/Hercules, has announced a new graphics card, which will be equipped with 'only' 64 MB memory (4 ns).
The reason for this are the currently high costs for DDR memory, which would raise the price of the card too much for the medium price level , said Guillemot Germany spokesman Christian Reul. Furthermore, the Radeon All-in-Wonder 8500DV is very well represented in the professional sector, which means that an increase in memory to 64 or 128 MB is not planned for a Radeon 8500 in the near future. The Hercules 3D Prophet FDX 8500 LE with a 250 MHz chip and memory clock will be available from the beginning of March, the price has not yet been fixed and will not be officially announced until the end of February.
