Hard disk with 180GB storage capacity
Hard drive manufacturer Seagate announced yesterday that it presented the world's largest hard drive, the Barracuda 180. This memory giant should be able to hold 180GByte and that in a 3.5 'housing half the height.
The disk rotates at 7200 revolutions per minute, with 47 MByte/s being transmitted via the Ultra160 SCSI interface The Barracuda 180 should be available in quarter 2001. As far as the price is concerned, however, at 2200 US dollars, the plate is clearly tailored to the high-end server sector.
