According to a report by the EU statisticians at Eurostat , more than half of all Europeans are now online. This is mainly due to the increasing, inexpensive distribution of broadband offers.

Important activities when using it of the Internet are according to the report the use of search engines, online telephony and the exchange of files via P2P networks. Broadband connections make up a large proportion of European Internet use in general: 42 percent of Europeans now surf the web with such connections (30 percent in the previous year). In Germany, every second household had a broadband connection in the first quarter of this year.
