Hacking is not a crime in Argentina
Hackers must have found their El Dorado in Argentina. Because according to a judgment against an Argentine hacker who manipulated a website, hacking is not a criminal offense. At least in Argentina. The responsible judge acquitted the hacker, since according to Argentine law only people, things and animals have to be protected.
It all started with the X-Team hackers in 1998. They had the website of the Argentine Supreme Court manipulated by including a photo of a murdered journalist on the website and accusing the judges of complicity. Three years later, Julio Lopez, the leader of the hacking force, was arrested. But now he has been released because, according to Argentine law, the manipulation of 'non-material' things is not criminally relevant. A serious loophole in the law, as the judge noted.
