Graphics chip race continues
The race between ATi and Nvidia continues, so the next chip generations will be shown at Computex in Taiwan next month. ATi comes up with the RV250 and R300, Nvidia wants to counter with the NV18 and NV30.
The RV250 will replace the Radeon 7500 and the NV18 the GeForce 4 MX440. Among the high-end chips, the R300 and Nvidia the NV30 will be presented, but graphics cards with the appropriate equipment will probably not be available until October. Here Matrox could secure market share with its Parhelia512 at an earlier market launch, since 3DLabs with its P10 will not be available until the end of the year. The race for the first DirectX 9.x card on the market continues.
