Google forges a weighty alliance in Japan
As reported by the Japanese media since Tuesday, Google has signed a major agreement with the local mobile communications heavyweight NTT Docomo that regulates the integration of search and e-mail functions of the internet company into the Docomo service i-mode.
With this, Google not only captured the local matadors, but also a small Japanese fortress. So far, NTT Docomo has mainly limited itself to taking care of all elements of the business itself. Other corporations and service providers were kept out of their own affairs almost restrictively.
In Japanese comments, it is now assumed that the increasing merging of the Internet and mobile phone could have led to Docomo looking for strong partners has looked around. Further details on the agreement are not known, but should follow if the cooperation is actually made public.
