FujiFilm: Up to 3 GB on a floppy disk

FujiFilm has succeeded in developing a new technology that allows data to be stored even more densely on magnetic data carriers. Theoretically nothing stands in the way of floppy disks with a storage capacity of 3 GB.

The FujiFilm company is a significant step succeeded in magnetic storage of data. A new technique called “Nano Cubic” technology makes it possible to store data even more densely on magnetic media. FujiFilm itself announced that it would now be possible to produce floppy disks with a storage capacity of 3 GB and hard drives with 1 TB. FujiFilm is already working with hard drive manufacturers on plates that use the newly developed technology. Fuji Foto Film USA attracted attention as early as 1992 when ATTOM (Advanced Super Thin Layer and High Output Metal Media) made it possible for the first time to produce floppy disks with a storage capacity of up to 200 MB.
