From 2002 paid content at T-Online
As the largest internet provider in Germany announced, it will be offering paid content to customers for the first time from the beginning of 2002. These will cover the areas of film, music, sports, games and information. For example, there should be live broadcasts of concerts.
T-Online boss Thomas Holtrop's goal is to bring T-Online back into the black. According to T-Online's head of marketing Burkhard Graßmann, customers will only be asked for amounts of one euro. Payment should then be made via the telephone bill, a DSL connection is required. T-Online also announced that it has now welcomed its 10 millionth customer. Whether all of these will contribute intensively to T-Online getting out of the red again remains questionable for the foreseeable future, since only 10% of users have DSL and King Customers can continue to wait for a narrowband flat rate - who pays for content when the charge counter goes up a little every minute!
