First specifications of the ATi R300
There are many rumors about the future ATi graphics chip R300, the colleagues from VR-Zone have now presented the specifications of the new chip on their website without comment, so there is still enough room for further speculation.
Then the R300 is to be manufactured in 0.15 µ technology and operated with a clock rate of 350 MHz. It should have 8 rendering pipelines and should be able to process four textures per pipeline, with the value model RV300 there will only be two. For this purpose, two TruForm engines should be integrated and HydraVision supported, just like HyperZ 3 and DirectX 9 with the PixelShader 2.0 extension. The DDR RAM should be clocked at 800 MHz, which corresponds to a bandwidth of up to 12.6 GB/s. The pixel fill rate is given as 2.8 million, the texel fill rate as 8.4 million. The release date of the R300 has still not been set, a possible date would be June 2002, as CompuTex then takes place in Taiwan.
