First Maxtor Ultra320 SCSI hard drive

According to Maxtor's own statements, the Atlas 10k III models are the first Ultra320 SCSI hard disks that are available up to a size of 73 GB. However, the first copies are first sent to a select group of selected customers.

For normal users, the atlas is only released in second quarter. Due to the lack of availability of appropriate controllers, however, the presentation was delayed contrary to Maxtor's plan. Maxtor also wanted to ensure compatibility with controllers from well-known manufacturers. So it can now be ensured that the Ultra320 SCSI disk is fully downward compatible. The at least 10,000 rpm rotating Atlas will be available in three sizes, with 18, 36 and 73 GByte capacity. Maxtor specifies an average access time of 4.5 ms, all disks have an 8 Mbyte cache. For how many euros these high-speed records will be sold over the counter, Maxtor did not want to announce yet.
