First mass-market DVD burner
The hybrid drive DVR-103 developed by Pioneer, which writes CDs, CD-RWs as well as DVDs, will come onto the market in Compaq computers in the first quarter.
With the computers it is is the Compaq Presario 7000. The drive is currently the only one of its kind that combines both CD and DVD recording in one device. The writing of DVDs proceeds at twice the speed, whereby single-sided DVDs with up to 4.7 GB can be written.
