First GeForce 4 MX cards offered
A French dealer already offers two GeForce 4 MX graphics cards from Abit and Leadtek. Although the GeForce 4 has not yet been officially presented by Nvidia, the dealer has even given technical data.
The built-in chipset is said to be the GeForce 4 MX440 with a clock frequency of 275 MHz, the 64 MB DDR-RAM is clocked at 200 MHz. The Abit card apparently uses faster memory and is supposed to clock with 250 MHz. Compared to the GeForce 3 Ti200, which works with 175 MHz GPU clock and 200 MHz RAM clock, these values appear very high for a budget product. However, it can be assumed that the GeForce 4 MX440 (NV17) will still not achieve the performance of a GeForce 3 (NV20) with the same clock rate. Both cards should be available from February. In addition to the offer from the French dealer, the French colleagues from Hardware.fr have also thought about the difference between the MX440 and MX460 models. You assume that both are operated with the same GPU clock, but the RAM clock for MX460 cards should be 300 MHz.
