First beta of Opera 4.0 for Linux

Opera has released version 4.0 of the first beta of the popular 'alternative' browser Opera for Linux systems as well (the tar.gz archive can be used with most Linux systems; there are more download options here.

Compared to the last 'technology preview', a lot of bugs should be fixed. That the browser is (mostly) faster than the overwhelming competition doesn't need to be told to your growing fan base. The Linux version -sorry, still beta rounds the whole thing off. Version 4.0b1 supports almost all important standards, e.g. HTML 4.0, JavaScript 1.3, SSL 2 and 3, CSS 1 and 2, XML, TLS and the WAP language WML. Bit encryption and support for plug-ins are also implemented.
