First 512-MBit DDR-II RAM available soon
Samsung has now presented the first 512 MBit memory in DDR-II design, which fully complies with the JEDEC standard that was passed two months ago. The new 512 MBit memory in DDR-II design should manage with only 1.8 volts and enable a data transfer rate of 533 MBit/s.
According to Samsung, the data transfer rate should even be stable up to 667 for special requirements Mbit/s can be increased. However, the memory chips of this size are currently only available as test samples. Large-scale production should only start in a few months. Samsung expects the DDR-II RAM to become the next commercial level for fast memory.
