European release of the Nintendo Gamecube

Today the duel between the three consoles is perfect: The Gamecube is now fighting for the buyers' favor with Playstation 2 and Xbox. He could well succeed: At a price of less than 200 euros, compact dimensions and a chic design, the console is right up to date.

When it comes to hardware, it does the same, by the way, because an IBM PowerPC processor with a clock frequency of 485 MHz works inside the small cube. The microprocessor unit can execute both 32-bit and 64-bit instructions. The main memory is dimensioned with 40 Mbytes, the graphics chip called 'Flipper' was developed in cooperation with Ati and is clocked at 162 MHz. According to Nintendo, they want to take a new course in games. Nintendo has apparently recognized that the previous company image was not exactly the best in gamer circles. To what extent this will have changes to future game titles remains to be seen. What is certain, however: The Gamecube is available in stores from today at a recommended retail price of 199 euros.
