EU investigation against memory manufacturer Hynix
The heavily indebted Korean memory manufacturer Hynix, which was on the verge of collapse, was just able to evade the takeover by Infineon through government loans. As read in the Korea Economic Daily newspaper, Hynix was able to enjoy government funding.
As a result, Infineon filed a complaint with the EU regarding unfair government subsidies and demanded punitive tariffs against the Asian memory manufacturer. An EU spokesman has meanwhile confirmed an investigation into this situation.
