Elsa with V.92 modems

The new V.92 standard, which will enable an upstream speed of 48Kbit/s for analog access, has been approved and Elsa wants to be able to supply the market with the first 'V.92-ready' modems as early as autumn. With functions such as 'Modem-on-hold', in which the data connection is paused during an incoming telephone call, or 'Quick-Connect', which is supposed to reduce the time for establishing the connection by half, V.92 also wants analog connections for give a right to exist for the next few years.

A firmware update of the existing Microlink modems to V.92 will not be possible for hardware reasons, but Elsa plans to set up an attractive exchange offer for owners of the 'older models'.
