ELSA on the mend? ELSA is smashed
It has been quite quiet around ELSA for some time now, but positive signals are now coming from Japan. The first copies of the GeForce 4 Ti4600 ELSA Gladiac 925 ViVo showed up in the shops last week.
That did not escape the notice of the Japanese colleagues from Ascii24 and they immediately took some photos that we did not see for you want to withhold. The card is based on the Nvidia reference design and the original Nvidia cooler, which has been painted golden. In addition to the normal VGA output, there is also a DVI output and the ViVo interface in between. We can only hope that ELSA will look up again and that new ELSA models will appear on the German market.
How Has just been reported to Heise, Elsa AG will be smashed. The Aachen-based company will cease operations on May 1st, on the same date the insolvency administrator should propose to the court that insolvency proceedings be opened. According to initial information, the company is to be broken up into two parts: one part 'Consumer Communications' (modems etc.) is to be continued with around 30 employees, as well as the other part 'Networks' (Airlancer, Lancom).
What with the graphics card divisionwill happen is not yet clear. It is doubtful whether Elsa AG will find an investor at the last minute. With the company founded in 1980, around 200 jobs will be lost.
