Elitegroup K7S6A based on the SiS 745
Elitegroup is one of SiS's closest partners when it comes to collaborating on the production of new mainboard chipsets. With the SiS 745, the successor to the SiS 735 is just around the corner, which until the KT266A from VIA saw the light of day, held the performance crown in the Socket A chipsets category.
The mainboard K7S6A from Elitegroup based on the SiS 745 for the AMD Athlon and Duron offers 3 memory banks with a maximum of 1GB PC2700- or 1.5GB PC2100/1600- DDR memory, 1 AGP and 1 CNR slot each, as well as 5 PCI slots. ATA100 support is taken for granted, AC'97 sound is also integrated. If the new chipset was able to gain a bit more than its predecessor, SiS could again take a step back from the competitor VIA, as the SiS 745 will probably be a lot cheaper to produce than VIA chipsets due to the integration of Northbridge and Southbridge in one chip should. According to rumors, the mainboard will soon be available in the USA for the equivalent of 200 DM.
