Duron 950 to Athlon XP 1.7+ in the test: AMD processor Roundup

Test system

We used Windows XP Professional as the operating system. We updated the integrated VIA 4in1 driver to version 4.37. DirectX 8.1, however, remained unchanged. More and more gamers are also relying on Windows 2000 and now slowly on the successor, so we consciously used Windows XP for the tests. In addition, it can be assumed that the performance differences prevailing in XP will also occur, at least in proportion, on every other Windows. The official driver version 23.11 was used for the graphics card. The system was designed according to Microsoft's specifications for benching with Windows XPconfigured.

To make specific statements about the performance of the processor In addition to purely theoretical benchmarks, we also used applications and games to be able to meet them in practical use. As a special extra, we did not shy away from tests with SETI @ Home. Furthermore, each of the processors was allowed to calculate PI to the first 1 million decimal places. We did not use Sysmark 2001 because the incorrect detection of 3DNow! Professional with the Athlon XP would falsify the results. The benchmarks used should nevertheless cover all areas of interest to the user.
