DirectX 9.0 RC1 released for beta testers
It looks like Microsoft will be able to release DirectX 9.0 as a finished product for download this year. Since yesterday, the beta testers have had the pleasure of taking a closer look at Release Candidate 1 with its build number 389.1.
As expected, Microsoft has concentrated on fixing bugs and has a little more than 80 version numbers since RC0 (308.3) can leave behind. Whether the software giant will also make the new development version publicly like the last version remains questionable, however. Finally, RC0 was only released for love at ATi, so that the graphics card manufacturer could make its first DirectX 9.0 drivers available to the public for testing.
