DirectX 9.0 development is progressing well
Microsoft recently released a new development version of the upcoming DirectX 9.0 graphics interface to its beta testers for download. This is a version that is about to be declared as Release Candidate 0.
Usually Once the RC status has been reached, no further features will be integrated into a program, only bugs will be fixed.
Compared to the last beta, the developers left numerous build numbers behind them. The new internal version reports with Build 308, whereas Beta 3 was still Build 172. If all goes well, DirectX 9.0 should be available for download as the final version by the end of this year. However, you shouldn't have high hopes for speed jumps, as the new version only provides the programming basics for the ATi Radeon 9700/9500 and the upcoming chips from nVidia>
