DirectX 8.1 Beta sent to testers
Microsoft has sent the latest revision of its DirectX multimedia library to testers for the first time. The release with the version number 8.1 is mainly characterized by two innovations. On the one hand, the full integration in WindowsXP and, on the other hand, all known bugs of the old version have been removed.
In addition, DirectX 8.1 supports new, high-resolution texture formats, an AppWizard for Microsoft Visual C ++ v6.0 and a new ' nPatch quadratic interpolation command '. Furthermore, Microsoft made it clear to its testers that from now on the activity and feedback will be monitored more specifically. Beta testers who are registered solely to get new software early will therefore soon go away empty-handed. If the overall feedback is not satisfactory, Microsoft will probably rethink its entire beta program.
