Dell shows running Itanium systems
At Systems 2000, which opened its doors in Munich today, Dell will be one of the first providers to show executable Itanium systems. Dell uses a very early beta version of Windows codenamed Whistler as the operating system.
With the system consisting of 4 processors, a complete e-commerce solution was presented at the Intel booth. It was also announced that Dell had delivered the first pilot systems, which had actually been promised at the last Intel Developers Forum, to companies. Furthermore, according to rumors, the official market launch of the Itanium was postponed to March 2001.
