Damaged underwater cable was repaired
The longest underwater cable in the world at 39,000 kilometers, which was cut by an anchor exactly a week ago, should be ready for use again as of today. You can no longer push low upstreams or downstreams onto the cable.
The cable, which cost around two billion marks, was only put into operation last year. It has 40 nodes in 34 countries, including Germany, and stretches across Western Europe to Asia and Australia, with around 100 telecommunications companies operating worldwide
