Compaq is recalling 1.4 million power supplies

After a total of five reported fires, which fortunately did not result in any damage to property or personal injury, Compaq is now recalling around 1.4 million notebook power supplies. The combination of power supply and power cord, which is sometimes used in the Armada M300, M700, E500, 110, V300 and 3500 and Notebook 100 models, is apparently responsible for the incidents to be affected. In order to clearly identify the built-in power supply unit as a defective unit, the serial number printed on it under the words 'Compaq Computer Corporation' is sufficient. If this is PPP003SD, PPP003 or PP2012, the power supply should be sent in immediately. Compaq pays all costs.
