  • Of course, the processors were also allowed to show what they can do when encoding videos. For this, each of the opponents was allowed to bring a 451MB MPEG1 video into DiVX (MPEG4) format using Flask. The average frame rate achieved was recorded on paper. High quality bicubic filtering was used, with only the video stream being processed. The audio stream, however, remained unprocessed. MMX was used as iDCT, as all test candidates fully support this multimedia command extension.

The Celeron cuts a pretty good figure in Flask. It can keep up with the equally clocked Pentium 4 with only approx. 10% lag.

SETI @ Home

  • In our comparison test we are of course particularly proud of the inclusion of the Seti @ Home text clients (3.03). Due to the long runtime, this should give a clear picture of the performance of the individual processors. In order to keep the results comparable, the same work unit with an angle range of 0.417 was used.

Somehow Seti's results are reminiscent of the poor performance in 3DMark2000 , Unreal Tournament and Comanche 4. Nothing can be glossed over here.
