CeBit: New ISDN/ADSL cards from AVM
AVM, the manufacturer of the world's best-selling ISDN card, presented the new product generation at CeBit today. First of all, AVM now has a new version of the ADSL controller on offer.
This combines both ISDN and ADSL in one device. Since AVM expects the market to open up in this area in the future, the future focus will be placed on the DSL area. Nonetheless, the FRITZ! Card PCI v2.0 is now available. This consumes only 0.1 watts of electricity and is able to switch the PC on automatically, e.g. when a fax is received. In addition, the card supports 'Fast Internet via ISDN', which significantly increases the performance of Internet access with the help of data compression instead of channel bundling. In this way, transfer rates of up to 240 kBit/s can be achieved! Unfortunately, this type of data transfer is currently only supported by a few providers. The price of the FRITZ! Card PCI v2.0 is for 179 DM (incl. VAT).
