CeBIT: Asetek overclocks Pentium 4 to 2 GHz
Asetek, a Danish cooling specialist, showed a Pentium 4 with 2004.5 MHz at CeBIT in Hanover. The PC case, which makes this clock rate possible, is to be delivered together with a compressor in two weeks. Asetek has now also dared to use the Socket 423 of the Pentium 4, after having already developed housings for the Socket 370 and Socket A.
The CPU was a 1.5 GHz Pentium 4, the performance of which has been increased by 25 percent using liquid cooling. The Vapochill case works like a refrigerator, with the evaporator located exactly on the CPU, so that it is cooled to 20 degrees below zero. The case, however, will cost an impressive 1500 marks.
