Broadcasting fees for the PC from 2005

The Süddeutsche Zeitung reported that from 2005 onwards one will have to pay broadcasting fees for computers too. The federal states seem to be largely in agreement that such a new regulation is necessary in the course of the progressive merging of television and Internet.

This should be a flat fee per household and business premises, which includes both radios, televisions and also includes computers in one. The public broadcasters have already sent a letter to the Prime Ministers of the federal states in which they speak out against the planned start in 2005, as they fear a loss of income of 857 million marks and the convergence of the Internet and television is also slower went well than actually assumed, so that the fee would not necessarily be justified.
