Breakdown at GMX
Just in time for the true turn of the millennium, Freemailer GMX has once again given us a nasty surprise. Many users will have waited in vain for New Year's greetings from their relatives and friends. A bug in the software simply moved the mails from various users of this service to the trash.
So everyone should do it dial in to GMX via the web frontend and look in the 'Deleted Messages' folder to see whether there are any unread mails there. Usually the mails in this folder are destroyed after 24 hours, but this was apparently overruled these days. However, it is recommended that the affected users move the messages to another folder in order to avoid permanent destruction. How many users are affected by this error could not yet be determined. What is certain, however, is that not only the Freemail area, but also the Pro Mail area are affected. More details will be announced later in the day. In the past year there was one or the other mishap, whereby the webmaster of Computerbase himself became a victim and various emails disappeared into nirvana.
