Bitboys news

After it was quiet around the bitboys for a long time, yesterday you could read in the Finnish IT magazine 'Micro PC' that a bitboys graphics chip had gone into production. The Bitboys have so far become known through the Glaze3D.

However, the Glaze3D was stopped before series production and a new project was started. The new chip is said to be called 'Avalanche' (Avalanche), has 12 MB RAM on die, i.e. integrated into the chipset, and has a 1024-bit internal memory bus. Today's 3D graphics chips usually only have a 128-bit memory bus. Unfortunately, it is not possible to tell from the article whether the mass production of the chips has already started or whether it is just a test sample. Below is a graphic in which the XtremeBandwithArchitecture (XBA) is compared with the bus systems from ATi and Nvidia.
