Battle of Marketing Names

The fight for the lucrative Christmas business seems to have changed into a new round with the two main competitors Xbox and GameCube. Both manufacturers are now trying every possible marketing trick to create an advantage for themselves and their product based on their sales figures.

Microsoft recently countered with the adjective 'best-selling' console after Nintendo advertised its GameCube as the 'fastest-selling' console. Despite the verification of the data by the market research company NPD, Microsoft does not provide exact sales figures. The number of Xbox consoles sold is estimated by industry experts at 300,000, with Nintendo having already spoken of 600,000 GameCubes sold. The Chief Xbox Officer at Microsoft, Robbie Bach, then announced the following: 'The Xbox was practically sold out on the launch day and we are selling more consoles as soon as they are completed'. So that the holy Christmas business is not endangered, around 100,000 consoles are currently being delivered to retailers per week, so that no willing buyer is left without an X-Box over the Christmas holidays.
