Baseline Security Analyzer from Microsoft
So that you can get an idea of the security of your Windows in the future, Microsoft has now published the 'Baseline Security Analyzer 1.0'. This 2.5 MB tool looks for possible security gaps and gives tips on which settings should be changed on his Windows.
The user is given an overview of installed service packs and updates and which ones have not yet been installed are installed. The program generates a list of links that prevents a long search on the Microsoft pages for the appropriate update. The 'Baseline Security Analyzer' is not limited to one system, but rather offers administrators the option of checking several computers at once. So far, the 'Baseline Security Analyzer' for Windows 2000 and XP is only available for download in English, but it also works on German Windows versions. Further information and the English download can be found here directly from Microsoft .
