Fillrate Tester

  • This useful little program is used to measure the fill rate of a graphics card. In contrast to the or integrated in 3DMarkFill rate tests, which primarily measure the bandwidth in the case of single texturing, this program can provide quite differentiated information about different types of fill rate, including the pixel shader fill rates, which we want to consider here. Since the shaders used are sometimes quite short and bandwidth-intensive, we increased the resolution as much as possible in order to shift the focus a little more on the fill rate. Since several mathematical operations per pixel are necessary here, the filling rate is more stressed than the bandwidth by increasing the resolution. The test was carried out in 1600x1200 in 32Bit with 24Bit Z- and 8Bit Stencilbuffer and 60 Hz refresh rate.

VillageMark

  • The VillageMark was developed by PowerVR and was used to illustrate the advantages of the Kyro 2, as the overdraw in that benchmark is particularly large with a factor of up to 10. Many, especially older graphics cards, also calculate the surfaces that are covered by others and therefore actually only mean wasted bandwidth and fill rate, so that this graphically not very complex benchmark becomes a stumbling block more often than you initially think. Therefore it is of the utmost importance in this benchmark to have a well-functioning technique for removing hidden surfaces (HSR = Hidden Surface Removal). Fablemark

  • Like the following Templemark, the Fablemark was developed by PowerVR and, despite a very high proportion of overdraw, serves to showcase strengths of the Kyro-Chip as far as the stencil buffer is concerned. Of course, the stencil performance is also strongly demanded on all other cards, so that this test can be an indication of upcoming games that insert a Z-/stencil-only pass before the actual rendering in order to avoid any overdraw in advance. ShaderMark

  • The ShaderMark is currently available in the current version 2.1 and was developed by Tommti-Systems elt. Thanks to numerous updates, the benchmark is still up to date and measures the performance of the shader units of modern graphics cards. The program also supports the Shader Model 3.0, which is why it is well suited for a comparison of current architectures. Up to 25 different shader instructions are tested with a resolution of 1600x1200, all of which are written in the HLSL (High Level Shader Language).

D3DRighmark Beta 4

  • Even if theoretical benchmarks, because If these do not represent a 'real' 3D environment, are suboptimal for determining the general performance, such programs show very well how fast or slow a graphics card is in a certain sub-area. The “D3DRightmark” in version “Beta 4”, which examines several of these sub-areas, belongs to the same category. ItNot only the Vertex Shader 3.0 performance is measured, but also the Pixel Shader 3.0 with the help of various shader code, which is written in HLSL and provides FP32 accuracy. In addition, a test of the 'hidden surface removal' mechanisms is carried out, as well as a pixel filling and point sprites test. We use 1600x1200 as resolution without anti-aliasing and texture filtering. Since the diagram for the results of the D3DRightmark is very long, we have hidden the values ​​in foldout text.
