ATi introduces mobile Radeon chip
The graphics card specialist ATi yesterday presented its mobile Radeon chip for use in notebooks, the Mobility Radeon. It is a slimmed-down version of its big brother, but it is extremely energy-efficient and should only consume about half a watt.
This is achieved through a power management feature that operates the chip in two different speed modes . In the event that the notebook is operated using a battery, this special technology automatically lowers the clock frequency and the supply voltage, which of course significantly reduces the power consumption of the chip. Further details on the Mobility Radeon can be found in the official ATi press release.
