ATI delivers the Radeon VE
The new Radeon VE from ATI is shipping immediately. The Radeon VE has the Radeon chip, 2 monitor outputs and TV-out.
However, the card was the T&L unit and a rendering pipeline were removed from the chip. In addition, the board only has 32 MB DDR RAM with 64 bits. With the Radeon VE, the image can either be output simultaneously via both monitor outputs or only via the TV-out. The new Radeon VE costs 269 marks and is therefore in direct competition with Nvidia's Geforce2 MX and Matrox 'G450. Gamers will probably prefer the Geforce2 MX to the Radeon VE. It remains to be seen whether commercial users will use the Radeon VE in the future and thus forego a T&L unit that is probably secondary to them. The new Radeon VE should also be in stores in Germany from March.
