ATI all-in-wonder Radeon8500DV

According to ATI's announcement, there will be an all-in-wonder version of the flagship Radeon8500 before Christmas. As the name suggests, the all-in-wonder cards from ATI have always offered a combination that shouldn't be missed.

Bo (a) rd also has the latest graphics chips, a TV tuner and lots of video inputs and outputs. In this case it would be the Radeon8500 chip, which is currently causing a sensation in the hardware scene, an ATI TV tuner, DVI connection, S-VHS and composite inputs and outputs, S/PDIF output for Dolby Digital and, as a special treat, two IEEE1394 Firewire ports. Since there is not enough space on the slot cover for this, a so-called break-out box is supplied, on which some of the sockets are assembled. External accessories also include the remote control, which, in contrast to the nVidia Personal Cinema, does not work with IR but with radio signals, and with which you can conveniently control most of the functions from the sofa, such as the time-delayed recording capability. Two more details are interesting: The card has a power connection that is similar to that of a 3.5 'floppy disk drive and which is supposed to ensure the power supply of the devices connected to the Firewire ports. Furthermore, there is apparently no DSub, just a DVI output. But don't worry, ATI will certainly supply a corresponding adapter for normal monitors. A first preview is available from AnandTech .
