AthlonMP now also with QuantiSpeed and higher frequencies
After the presentation of the AthlonXP in connection with the so-called model number, also called QuantiSpeed in AMD PR jargon, caused a sensation and some critical voices a week ago, AMD is now following me with the variant called MP.
This is explicitly designed for multiprocessor operation. On the other hand, there are even rumors of the AthlonXP that AMD intends to switch off SMP capability in one of the next batches. Otherwise, apart from the designation and the price (the MP is approx. US $ 50 more expensive than the XP), there is currently hardly any difference between the new products. Both have model numbers, both are manufactured on the new OPGA substrate and both have the Palomino core. In contrast to the AthlonXP, there will apparently no 1700+ version of the AthlonMP.
