Asus V8460 Ultra Deluxe in the test: The video talent with shutter glasses
Dungeon Siege
Also a new Benc hmark and a first for us is the benchmarkable, patched version of the monster dead-click game Dungeon Siege from 'Gas Powered Games'. In an isometric top view you walk through a very detailed game world, slay dangerous monsters and collect treasures. Quite elaborate light and shadow effects are shown together with very pretty textures, especially on the detailed opponents.

Here for the first time the disadvantages become more or less obvious of multisampling: The greenery that hangs in the top right of the picture, as well as the palm fronds are practically not smoothed at all by multisampling, the overall picture on the Radeon8500 looks significantly calmer, even if the GeForce4, thanks to its sampling pattern, e.g.at the bottom of the picture in some areas. The texture quality, even at the risk of repeating itself, is clearly in favor of the Asus v8460ultra, it seems as if AF is not active on the Radeon, which is not the case.
Aquanox
In this test, we wanted to know how the retail version of Aquanox, which is increasingly included as a bundle with current graphics cards, can be played on these. As was to be expected, the average fps are significantly higher than with the heavily pixel and vertex shader-heavy Aquamark, which this time is no longer part of the game.
The Magellan cutscene was tested according to the settings of the benchmark Specification of the 3D center, ie with full details that demand the utmost from every graphics card.

The smoothing of the edges is almost identical , only on the wreck on the left with background the GeForce4 can smooth the long horizontal edge better. There is nothing wrong with the textures in both cases.
Since Aquanox uses a lot of texture layers, most of which, in contrast to Aquamark, are no longer superimposed by means of pixel shaders, but with conventional multitexturing, the one again applies here Finding already made in PowerVR's synthetic tests: FSAA & AF are underDirect3D true performance killers!
