Asus P4T533 and RIMM 4200: temperature problem?
The c't reported about it in its current issue and the hardware pages took it over: The Samsung RIMM 4200 from the Asus bundle apparently has a temperature problem. Since then there has been a thread on this topic in practically every major forum - rightly?
We have our P4T533 off again fetched from the closet and retested. In our review, the board was only used lying freely on the floor, now it was squeezed into an unventilated midi tower together with the P4 2.4GHz (533MHz) and GeForce 3 Ti200. Incidentally, the memory module is not the 256MB module that is rarely available in stores, but an exclusive 512MB sample. However, if there is a temperature problem, this should also (if not sooner) show up on our module. However, our system ran without problems even under tough conditions. Seti @ Home and the 3DMark2001 SE could not get the computer out of sync after ten hours, although the system temperature of over 40 ° C was not exactly in a pleasant region. From our side we cannot confirm the problem uncovered by the c't.
