Asus P4G8X Deluxe with E7205 in the test: Dual-Channel DDR-SDRAM for Pentium 4

Unreal Tournament 2003

  • These days, the successor to the UT ego shooter, Unreal Tournament 2003, is also available in Germany. In a report we had already taken on the hardware requirements of the demo and found an almost perfect environment for a CPU test. Like UT (1), UT2003 is also heavily dependent on the processor and memory connection, including the FSB.

Unreal Tournament confirms this picture one more time. The enormous hunger for bandwidth causes the P4G8X to slide closer to the P4T533 and a little further away from the P4PE.

Comanche 4

  • Comanche 4 is a fairly new game that requires excessive use by the Pixel shaders of modern graphics cards to display the detailed landscape, as well as the beautifully animated water and reflective surfaces. At an average of 30 fps, the polygon throughput is around 6 million per second. In our test, over 10 million polygons per second could be displayed, which is of course due to the strong support of the graphics card by the processor.

Even with Comanche 4 we don't get to the typical three -Staggering over and after a large part of the tests slowly but surely have to adjust to the fact that nothing will change in this picture. i850E before E7205 and i845PE.

Seti @ Home

  • We are now also including the text client from Seti @ Home (3.03) in the mainboard tests. Due to the long runtime, this should give a clear picture of the performance of the individual boards. In order to keep the results comparable, the same work unit with an angle range of 0.417 was used.

Seti @ Home also shows the well-known result. In our test, we let the systems calculate two work units with Hyper Threading at the same time. The P4G8X Deluxe completed this task in 3 hours and 34 minutes. Converted, the system only needed 1 hour and 47 minutes for each work unit. This puts the P4G8X 5 minutes behind the P4T533and 6 minutes before the P4PE with i845PE.
