Asus P4B533-E and Intel D845GBV in the test: i845E against i845G, i850E and i845D
Vulpi ne GLMark v1.1
The second OpenGL hurdle is also the Vulpine GLMark version 1.1 with our Pentium4 rivals. The boards were allowed to let off steam and show themselves in both the lowest and very high settings what's in them.

We were surprised by the excellent performance of the P4B533-E in the Vulpine GLMark. It is practically on the same level as the P4T533-C and is clearly in front of the other two boards with the i845G and i845D. We had to doubt ourselves whether our result could correspond to the facts, since it was reproducible, but we have to assume its correctness.
The D845GBV with i845G and integrated graphics has to find itself at the end of the field alone. The reasons for this are, on the one hand, to be found in the poor performance of the graphics core and, on the other hand, we weren't able to deactivate VSync in the integrated graphics, which cost one or the other frame in 640x480x16Bit. In addition, the Vulpine GLMark is of course mercilessly designed for hardware T&L, which the integrated solution of the i845G does not offer. This was shown some time ago by our tests with a Kyro2, which also had to give up in this test.
Lightwave 7.0b
Before we turn to the DirectX results in the next section , let's take a detour to the rendering department and let the boards render two scenes from Lightwave 7.0b. Since our test only concerns Pentium4 boards, the special Pentium4 optimization of the software can be neglected.

In Lightwave, the DDR RAM boards can really show off and make the P4T533-C with Rambus look rather old. The very good performance of the D845GBV with GeForce3 Ti200 is again astonishing; it again puts itself in front of the competition. Closely behind it is the P4B533-E with i845E, which is also found here before its predecessor.
