Quake 3 Arena

Quake 3 Arena and games based on this engine can rightly be counted among the most memory-intensive games. The P4T533-C should be able to take the top position here without any problems. With Quake 3 Arena we are also entering the graphics-based benchmarks, in which special attention should be paid to the performance of the integrated graphics of the i845G.

We expected that the P4T533-C would be at the top. But again the i845G surprised us in combination with the GeForce3 Ti200. It trumps the performance of the P4B533-E with i845E in some cases quite clearly, which suggests very good memory management. The P4B266-E with i845D cannot keep up with its successor in Quake 3 Arena either.

The D845GBV with integrated graphics naturally runs a bit outside the competition. It was already clear before the benchmarks that the integrated graphics solution could in no way keep up with a GeForce3 Ti200. The performance is clearly in the range of a GeForce2 MX200, as Intel had striven for. The integrated graphics cannot keep up with a GeForce1, since a GeForce1 offers a higher memory transfer rate, which is extremely important for Quake3.
