Asus introduces motherboard with nForce 780i SLI
Asus was one of the first manufacturers to publish information about its new P5N-T Deluxe board based on the nForce 780i. Asus relies on the best-equipped version of the board, which offers three graphics card slots for Nvidia's new triple SLI.
The three slots are fully supported with 16 lanes each and provide the basis for three identical graphics cards. The 3-way SLI bridge is included. It should be noted, however, that only the two blue slots are suitable for the new PCI Express 2.0 standard. Since the 780i chipset can officially provide a maximum of 46 lanes, but three graphics cards alone require 48 lanes, the additional connections required are implemented via an extra chip.
Officially, the Asus P5N-T Deluxe supports all current Intel processors including of the upcoming 45 nm CPUs. With the frontside bus, the nForce mainboard can go up to 1,333 MHz, while DDR2-SDRAM up to 1,066 MHz is supported as memory in a maximum volume of 8 GB. In terms of the other features, the Asus mainboard lacks nothing that one is used to from the deluxe model. Further details are available directly from Asus.
